PUPPY OBEDIENCE
By
starting your dog early, you will develop good habits instead of trying
to break bad habits later. Research shows at 7 weeks of age a dog's
mind is totally developed.
Puppies
must be 8 weeks of age and have 2 shots of the puppy series of vaccinations.
Exercises
taught are Puppy Socialization, People Socialization, and all the exercises
listed under Basic Obedience I.

OBEDIENCE I
Your
goal will be to get your dog to work on a loose leash and with one command.
Dogs must be 16 weeks of age and be up-to-date on all vaccinations.
Exercises
Come: Come when called
Sit: Sit on command and Sit Stay
Down: Down on command and Down Stay
Heel: No pulling while walking on leash
Stand: Stand for veterinarian examination, toweling, and grooming
Pet Manners: Loose leash and verbal control around other dogs,
people and traffic. No mouthing, biting, or barking. Wait at the door
or in the car. Go to your rug and wait.

OBEDIENCE II
Your
goal will be to get your dog to do the exercises listed under Basic
Obedience I but OFF LEAD.

PRIVATE CLASS
Some
people and dogs learn better and/or faster without the distraction of
others. Private classes teach the Basic Obedience exercises listed above
at you and your dog's personal level with emphasis on your personal
needs.

COMPETITION OBEDIENCE
Competition
obedience is for people who love to train and work their dogs. For pure
and mixed breeds. You can earn a Canine Good Citizen Title all the way
up to an Obedience Trial Champion.

C.D. (COMPANION DOG) CLASS
The C.D. Class is of people who wish to compete with
their dogs in AKC or mixed breed trials. Requirements: dog must have
good off-leash control. No aggressive dogs. Call the office for more

BEGINNING AGILITY
Pre-requisite: all dogs must be trained through Basic Obedience
I. Your dog must be at least four months of age and have all of its
vaccinations. This is the class where everyone starts. You and your
dog will be taught the introductory steps for all of the Agility equipment:
A-frame, dogwalk, teeter-totter, weave poles, tunnels, chutes, and jumps.
All equipment will be kept low for comfort and safety. You will start
learning handling skills such as front-crosses, rear-crosses, wraps,
sends, etc.

NOVICE AGILITY
Pre-requisite: Off-leash control. You will be expanding your skills
on the equipment with a priority on safety and control. Equipment stays
low. You will learn to run short sequences, work contacts and learn
many handling skills.
|
|
|
INTERMEDIATE AGILITY
Pre-requisite: Off-leash control and the dog’s growth plates must
be closed. You will be running courses at full height, as well as expanding
your and your dog’s skills on serpentines, 180’s, 270’s,
sending, contacts, layering, etc.

|
EXCELLENT
AGILITY
Pre-requisite: Running at the Excellent or Elite Level at trials. Running
courses and breaking them apart to learn better handling skills will
be the focus.

| Meet
our Canine College Instructing Staff!
Laurie
Weaver, internationally recognized as an
excelling instructor, trainer, and competitor is the Training Director
and President of Canine College. She has given seminars in the United
States and Canada and published articles internationally. Laurie accomplished
multiple titles including Breed Championships, Obedience Trial Championships,
and Field Trial Degrees in the US and Canada. She has earned numerous
High in Trials with several different breeds and taken first place at
top obedience competitions across the US and Canada. She has also worked
with International Hearing Dogs in Denver, Colorado.
Instructing
is Laurie's passion. She has proven over and over again that not only
can she do it, but her students can also. She has been working with
dogs and their people for over 30 years. |

Canine
College is staffed by highly qualified professional trainers. They are
in constant training by attending seminars, lectures, and titling their
own dogs. They are always continuing their education in dog psychology,
behavior, and new training methods.
You will
be instructed on how to obedience train your dog with methods that will
develop a bond of love and respect between you and your dog. You will
learn how to communicate with your dog to ensure the dog understands
you are the Pack Leader. Canines, both pure and mixed breeds, excel
with these methods.
